Arizona Wins Again, 2-1
|
The Arizona Vipers got a strong game from starter Frank Salerno, but it was some clutch hitting that ultimately delivered the win.
The Vipers took the 2-1 win over the New Mexico Danger in Game 2 of the League Championship Series in a 11th inning walk-off today. The win capped off a fine outing for the right-handed Salerno. Salerno threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball in the win, which gave the Vipers a 2-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when Arizona right fielder Joe Cortez, facing Justin Wright, had a run-scoring double. It gave the Vipers the 2-1 win.
"This place was rockin'," said Cortez.
Game 3 is scheduled for Thursday at The Danger Zone in Albuquerque.
