Raucous Farmers Market Stadium Crowd Propels Blue Pirates to 3-2 Victory; Series Tied at 1
|
The Wildcard Series is tied at 1 games apiece, thanks to a dramatic walk-off victory at Farmers Market Stadium today for the Ontario Blue Pirates.
22-year-old right fielder Jesus Capistran was the star for Ontario, as he slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice in the Farmers Market Stadium contest. The 3-2 Ontario triumph allowed the team to even the best-of-7 series with the New Jersey Athletics at 1-1.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the tenth. With no one out, Capistran hit a fastball from Jim Schlenker for a solo home run. The Blue Pirates, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"Things broke our way today and that's great," Blue Pirates manager said. "It's important, though, to stay focused and not pat yourself on the back too much. We aren't done yet."
The next game is set to be played for Monday, October 19th , 2065 at Johnson & Johnson Field in Elizabeth.
