Yellowhammers Edge Blue Pirates 3-2 to Open LCS
|
The Alabama Yellowhammers powered past the hometown Ontario Blue Pirates, 3-2, in the opener of the League Championship Series at Farmers Market Stadium today. Alabama starting pitcher Ronman Tierney threw 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball, to lead the charge. The Yellowhammers now lead the series 1-0.
Bill Valdez, the 30-year old shortstop , had a direct impact on the outcome. Valdez contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put Alabama up, 3-2.
"Tough loss," said Ontario manager . "But we'll learn from it."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Farmers Market Stadium in Markham.
