Home Loss Shrinks Yellowhammers Series Lead to 2-1
|
Already down in the League Championship Series, the Ontario Blue Pirates put on their best show, beating the Alabama Yellowhammers by a final score of 2-1 today. Kei-thing Xiang was special. He threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. Ontario now trails Alabama 2-1 in the best-of-7 affair.
Ontario used the timely hitting of Jesus Capistran to capture the win. The right fielder socked a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Blue Pirates ahead, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"It's a big deal," Capistran said of the win. "If we had gone to 0-3, we're pretty much out of it."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Madison County Grounds in Huntsville.
