Yellowhammers Clip Vipers 2-1 in FCS Contest
|
The Alabama Yellowhammers and the Arizona Vipers will take the Federation Cup Series to a decisive 9th game. The Yellowhammers got a dramatic walk-off victory in a must-win situation today to beat the Vipers 2-1 at Madison County Grounds and force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Alabama left-hander Greg Kelley had a sizable impact in the win. He threw 8.0 innings of 3-hit ball.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Alabama second baseman Ken Foster, facing Jonathan Boehlke, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Yellowhammers the 2-1 win.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Foster said after the game.
The next game is set to be played for Tuesday, November 17th , 2065 at The Snake Pit in Phoenix.
