Critical Game 5 Goes to Host Railroaders, 6-5
|
Game 5 was big. So was Harry Paul.
In leading Pennsylvania to a crucial 6-5 victory over the North Carolina Aviators at PNC Park, the Pennsylvania starter rose to the occasion, tossing 5.2 good innings. Paul threw 5.2 innings allowing 3 runs as the Railroaders defended their home field to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 League Championship Series.
Had Luis Martinez not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Martinez hit a 2-run single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Railroaders.
"We don't have much margin for error now," Aviators manager Rob Chapman said. "We need to figure out the problem and fix it, immediately."
Game 6 is scheduled for Wednesday at Lowe's Field at Bojangles' Stadium in Charlotte.
