Washington starter Nadir Shirazi pitched well against the Oregon Explorers at Multnomah Stadium. The right-hander led his team to a win, 1-0. Masanori Hayashi earned the save for Washington, his 2nd. The loss lowers the Oregon record to 2-5.
Though he did not get the decision, Shirazi did all he could to keep his team close, twirling a shutout through 8.1 innings, until Washington eventually rallied past the Explorers.
"We did just enough to win," Shirazi said.
