Athletics Bridle Railroaders, 1-0
|
In a low-scoring affair between the New Jersey Athletics and the Pennsylvania Railroaders, pitcher Danny Garza was the difference between victory and defeat. The New Jersey left-hander earned accolades in the 1-0 Athletics win. Jim Schlenker was credited with the save for New Jersey, his 6th of the season. Early on, the Athletics, at 11-4, have played an impressive brand of baseball.
Pedro Zapata, the 24-year old third baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Zapata contributed a run-scoring double in the top of the third inning to put New Jersey up, 1-0.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Pennsylvania manager Mike Kritikos.
