Explorers Best Vipers in Pitching Duel
|
The Oregon Explorers took Arizona pitcher Greg Medici's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Multnomah Stadium. The final score had Oregon getting past the Vipers, 2-0. Medici went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 7. Ruslan Popkovich got credit for the win, improving to 3-1. He allowed no runs on 4 hits in 5 innings. The Explorers, with just their 6th win so far in 2065, have yet to catch fire.
Pedro Lara had a big run-scoring triple for the Explorers in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Oregon leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a curveball from Greg Medici and swatted a triple to right. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Explorers ahead, 2-0.
"We'll put that win in the can," said Lara, "and go after the next one."
