Mallards Roll to 8-3 Win Over Bears
The Minnesota Mallards downed the Colorado Bears, 8-3, at Dylan Park at Hennepin. The Mallards were led by Steve McNutt. McNutt was 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Nick Vernon earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.2 innings. He upped his record to 2-1. Minnesota is still hoping to get on a roll. The win is just their 9th in 26 games.

With Minnesota leading 4-1 in the bottom of the third, McNutt hit a 2-run single off Colorado hurler Bernardo Lanfranchi. It was the 22nd hit of the season for McNutt and put his team ahead, 6-1.

"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said McNutt.
