Bridegrooms Drop Railroaders, 11-5
|
Spirited fans greeted the Pennsylvania Railroaders for their clash with the Maryland Bridegrooms.
The Maryland Bridegrooms spoiled a good performance by Pennsylvania right fielder Zach Cowart, bumping off Pennsylvania, 11-5, at PNC Park. Cowart was 4 for 4 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Mitsuru Ogawa snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits over 2 innings. He's now 2-5 on the season. Adan Helms got credit for the save for Maryland. It was his 1st of the year.
Maryland used the hitting of Dave Crawford to pick up the win. The right fielder clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Bridegrooms on top, 5-0. For the game, Crawford had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We hit the ball hard," said Maryland manager Stephen Edwards. "Line drive after line drive."
The Bridegrooms, at 22-21, sit in first place in the Patriot League North.
