Railroaders Win Close Shave, 1-0
|
Ontario got a big-time effort from pitcher Danny Chavez, but it wasn't enough to keep the Pennsylvania Railroaders from winning the game, 1-0. Chavez threw 8.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. Lysander Kalergi, 5-3, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. The win makes Pennsylvania 17-21.
The Railroaders procured the win, in large part because of designated hitter Doug Stephenson. In the bottom of the tenth, he produced the game-winning run-scoring single.
"Winning in the last at-bat, there's nothing else like it," said Stephenson.
