Dujardin Leads Bridegrooms to 1-0 Win over Empire
Fans watched the Maryland Bridegrooms and the New York Empire fight to the finish.

Maryland used a superb performance from starting pitcher Ron Dujardin to down the New York Empire, 1-0. The Bridegrooms, at 22-16, lead by one game in their division.

Dujardin, who has sometimes raised the ire of coaches and teammates with his famously lackadaisical work ethic, turned in a spirited effort. The hurler struck out 6 in 8 innings and gave up no runs.

Dujardin, who is tied for 2nd in the PL with a 1.46 ERA, moves to 7-1 on the year with 63 strikeouts.

"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," Dujardin told the Maryland Chronicle.
