Vasquez Helps Mallards Beat Outlaws, 6-4
|
The Minnesota Mallards bested the Texas Outlaws, 6-4, at Dylan Park at Hennepin. Jesus Vasquez was one of the standouts. He was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. The winner was José Noriega, who threw 118 pitches over 7 innings. The right-hander was charged with 4 runs on 5 hits. Eric Robert, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 3rd save.
The Mallards got a big at-bat from right fielder José Villarreal. For the game, Villarreal was 1 for 4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the first, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 5th double of the season gave Minnesota a 2-0 lead.
"We came in and got the job done. That's what it's all about in this business," said Villarreal.
With the win, the Mallards sit at 30-21.
