Bridegrooms Stumble, Lose to Yellowhammers
With third baseman Cedric Murphy leading the charge, the Alabama Yellowhammers defeated the Maryland Bridegrooms, 8-4, at Bridegrooms Stadium. Murphy, who finished 5th in the PL in triples with 7 last year, was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. The Yellowhammers lead the Patriot League South by 2 games.

With Alabama leading 2-1 in the top of the fourth, Murphy hit a forkball from Tony Perez for a grand slam home run. It was his 8th home run of the season and put the Yellowhammers ahead, 6-1.

"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Alabama skipper Larry Link.
