Vipers Take Down Mallards, 3-2
|
Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Arizona Vipers got the win.
In a low-scoring tilt between the Arizona Vipers and the Minnesota Mallards, Greg Medici was the difference-maker. The Arizona left-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. Medici, now 7-2, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 8, walking 1, and allowing 1 run.
Arizona used a clutch hit from Paddy Kerkhoven to get the win. The left fielder drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Vipers ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"That's baseball," said Minnesota manager . "Sometimes the other team plays better than yours."
Arizona raised its record to 38-26 with the win.
