Bridegrooms Win Thriller, 6-3
|
Led by Austin Wooldridge, the Maryland Bridegrooms downed the New Jersey Athletics, 6-3. Wooldridge went 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 5 runs and scored once for the Bridegrooms. The victory gives Maryland a record of 45-44.
The game was decided with two out in the bottom of the ninth. With Maryland trailing 3-2, Wooldridge jumped on a sinker from 31-year old left-handed pitcher Bill Banko and hit a grand slam home run to center. With one swing, the Bridegrooms had a walk-off win.
"Great to get the crowd on its feet," Wooldridge said.
