Blue Pirates Turn Back Athletics, 1-0
|
The New Jersey Athletics wasted an inspired, 6.2-inning effort from starter Danny Garza, falling 1-0 to the Ontario Blue Pirates at Johnson & Johnson Field. Gary Bazar picked up the win, improving his season record to 7-5. He struck out 3 in 6 innings. Billy Snow earned the save for Ontario, his 12th of the year.
Joe Burleigh, the 30-year old second baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Burleigh contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put Ontario up, 1-0.
"Another day, another win. On to the next one," Burleigh told the Ontario Bulletin.
The second-place Blue Pirates improved to 41-33.
