Explorers Shut Out Warhawks, 7-0
|
The Oregon Explorers racked up a win at Multnomah Stadium, bumping off the Illinois Warhawks, 7-0. Dan Sampson, who started for Oregon, pitched effectively for his team. Oregon goes to 47-29. The win puts them 7½ games up in their division.
The Explorers got a big at-bat from second baseman Vinny Mason. For the game, Mason went 1-4 with a triple. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 3rd triple of the season gave Oregon a 2-0 lead.
"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Sampson.
