Athletics Take Tight Tilt
|
New Jersey Athletics starter Glen Duncan pitched his team past the Ohio Knights, 3-2. Duncan got the win, improving to 6-5. He allowed 4 hits and walked 0 over 7 innings. Duncan allowed 2 runs. Jim Schlenker got credit for the save for New Jersey. It was his 20th of the year.
Dan Hone dealt the Knights a blow in the bottom of the fifth. Batting with runners on 2nd and 3rd and New Jersey leading 2-0, Hone, the 5th overall pick in the 2052 draft, hit a 2-2 fastball for a run-scoring single.
"This is a very good team," said Duncan. "We have the chance to do something special."
New Jersey goes to 44-32, Ohio to 34-42.
