Twin Towers Win in Extras
|
Extra innings were needed to determine a winner at Huntington Park.
The Twin Towers had to overcome a fine performance from Ohio pitcher Dani Romero to grab a 4-2 win at Huntington Park. Romero allowed 2 earned runs over 8.1 innings. New York reliever Gary Stead picked up the win, bumping his record to 5-4. Chiel van Alphen was collared with the loss.
New York used the bat of Franck Hopstaken to get the win. The right fielder hammered a solo home run in the top of the 13th inning to put the Twin Towers ahead, 3-2. It was his lone hit in 6 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"Chalk one up for the good guys," said Hopstaken. "I'm sure our fans enjoyed that win."
The Twin Towers bumped their record to 44-42 with this latest triumph.
