Railroaders Score Late to Upend Athletics, 5-2
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the New Jersey Athletics and Pennsylvania Railroaders get after it.
New Jersey got a valiant performance from pitcher Éric Rossi, but it wasn't enough to beat the Pennsylvania Railroaders. Pennsylvania won the game, 5-2. Rossi threw 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. David Litz notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 1.2 innings. His record now sits at 2-1. Lysander Kalergi earned his 8th save in 10 chances.
Pennsylvania took a 4-2 lead on Luis Martinez's 17th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Martinez hit in the bottom of the eighth, left New Jersey pitcher Philippe Bourbon visibly frustrated.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Martinez said after the game.
The last-place Railroaders now have a win-loss record of 38-50.
