Outlaws Drop Warhawks, 3-1, with Late Score
|
Texas got a first-rate effort from pitcher Josh Bang, who frustrated Illinois hitters en route to a 3-1 Outlaws triumph at Outlaw Park. Walt Powell earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 2 innings. He upped his record to 3-1. Matt Pierce converted his 16th save in 19 tries.
Ken Huff played a key role in the win. The Texas center fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, Huff went 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Bang told the Texas Chronicle.
Today's win puts Texas at 42-47, while Illinois falls to 39-50.
