Guest Athletics Win, 3-2, at Pennsylvania
|
Starting pitcher Bill Chapman had a solid game. He was a big reason the New Jersey Athletics throttled the Pennsylvania Railroaders, 3-2. Chapman went 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 7. His record improves to 7-6. Jim Schlenker got the save, his 24th in 29 chances.
Juan Padilla had a nice at-bat for the Athletics with no one out in the top of the seventh. With a runner on 2nd, the pinch hitter hit a run-scoring double, which would prove important in the New Jersey win.
"Bill made his pitches," said New Jersey manager .
New Jersey raised its record to 50-39 with the win.
