Kioniko Sensational for Yellowhammers
|
The Alabama Yellowhammers got a magnificent performance from pitcher Leveni Kioniko, who muffled the New York offense en route to a tight 3-0 Yellowhammers win at The Empire. Nelson Padilla was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 33 of 34 save opportunities. The Yellowhammers lead the Patriot League South by 3½ games.
It was a remarkable effort from Kioniko, who is one of the team leaders. Kioniko recorded 5 strikeouts in 8 innings while allowing 5 hits. Kioniko, who finished 3rd in the PL in ERA with 2.55 in 2061, moves to 5-6 on the year with 90 strikeouts.
"We didn't score," said losing manager Richard Hager. "That was the problem."
