The Kentucky Lions had to overcome a good performance from New Mexico pitcher Mario Quintana to claim a 3-2 win at The Danger Zone. Quintana went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. The winner was Kentucky reliever Luis Ramírez, now 3-1. The loser was Ralph Holmes. Kentucky is in second place in the Patriot League South with a record of 58-59.

Kentucky used the timely hitting of Klaus van Straaten to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Lions on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"This was a tough loss," said New Mexico manager Jeff Hoffman. "It'll stick in my craw for a while."
