The Minnesota Mallards beat the Idaho Steelheads, 5-2. Minnesota pitcher and West Bloomfield Township, Michigan, native Brian McGruder led the way. McGruder, now 11-8, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Idaho is still trying to get off the schneid, having lost 6 in a row.

Minnesota used the bat of Wai-ho Zhai to get the win. The shortstop hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Mallards ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it did its damage.

"I'm just happy to help the team win," Zhai told the Minnesota Today.
