Bears Dealt 2-1 Loss by Minnesota
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Minnesota Mallards and the Colorado Bears, pitcher Willie Salazar was the difference between victory and defeat. The Minnesota right-hander earned accolades in the 2-1 Mallards win. Salazar picked up the win for Minnesota, going 7.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 12-8. The second-place Mallards are now 73-63, the Bears 57-79.
Had it not been for Julio Marrero, the results might have been different. In the bottom of the seventh inning, when the Mallards were trailing 1-0, Marrero hit a 2-run single for Minnesota, giving his team the lead.
"Willie just went about his business, throwing strikes," said Minnesota manager .
