Explorers Beat Bears, 9-8
|
Getting a good performance from left fielder John Howard, the Oregon Explorers defeated the Colorado Bears, 9-8. Howard went 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Explorers. Valentyn Quarenta notched his 10th save in 13 chances. Oregon improves to 85-54 with the win. They lead their division by 6½ games.
The Explorers benefited from a costly error in the top of the second. With José Valdéz at bat and Oregon leading 1-0, the Colorado miscue allowed Oregon to plate 1 and take the lead, 2-0.
"Chalk one up for the good guys," said Valdéz. "I'm sure our fans enjoyed that win."
