Mallards Come Up Short at Texas, 4-3
|
The Texas Outlaws beat the Minnesota Mallards, 4-3. Texas pitcher and Elizabeth, New Jersey, native Josh Bang led the way. Matt Pierce converted his 32nd save in 37 tries. The win gives Texas a season record of 76-68.
The Outlaws got a big at-bat from first baseman Lee Choate. For the game, Choate was 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 39th home run of the season gave Texas a 2-1 lead.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Choate. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
