Resonance Need Extra Innings to Top Athletics, 5-3
|
Getting offensive support from Rick Stevens, the Washington Resonance topped the New Jersey Athletics, 5-3. Stevens was 3-5 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs for the Resonance. Washington reliever Steve Lazenby got the win, raising his record to 6-4. Paul Torr was tagged with the loss. Washington is now 72-80.
Had Stevens not come through in the top of the tenth, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Stevens hit a 2-run single. The Resonance took the lead, 5-3, and never looked back.
"Feels good to be on the winning side," said Stevens.
