Bridegrooms Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Empire, 3-1
|
In a well-pitched game between the Maryland Bridegrooms and the New York Empire, pitcher Nathan Stone was fantastic. The Maryland left-hander helped his team secure the win, 3-1. The win was credited to Josh Reynolds in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Pat Delaney took the loss. Matt French earned his 38th save in 42 chances.
Maryland used a clutch hit from Willie Cuevas to get the win. The third baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Bridegrooms ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I give credit to my teammates for this win. We got it done," Cuevas told the Maryland Chronicle.
The victory gives Maryland a record of 90-66.
