New York Gets 8-5 Win
|
Robbie Fox did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Pennsylvania Railroaders from losing, 8-5, to the New York Empire at PNC Park. Fox was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Manny Moreno got the win, improving to 3-7. He worked 5.2 innings, giving up 3 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 4. Mark Davidson picked up the save for New York, his 36th of the year.
Yuri Vijn, the 22-year old catcher , had a direct impact on the outcome. Vijn contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the fourth inning to put New York up, 2-0.
"The name of the game is scoring runs," Vijn said. "We did a good job of that today."
The last-place Railroaders have lost 4 straight games.
