Bulldogs Turn Back Resonance, 3-1
|
In a tight game between the California Bulldogs and the Washington Resonance, pitcher Brendon Leiner was terrific on the mound. The California right-hander helped his team to the 3-1 win. Leiner, the winner, moves to 9-6. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 8 and giving up 4 walks. The Resonance, now 79-80, have lost 4 in a row.
Mario Naranjo, who is tied for 5th in the FL in doubles with 35, aided the California cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the right fielder drew 1 walk.
"This was a tough loss," said Washington manager Larry Gomberg. "It'll stick in my craw for a while."
