Vipers Beat Washington, 5-4
|
The Vipers grabbed a win, 5-4, at The Boom Box, overcoming a fine effort from Washington pitcher Kyler Rhea. Rhea went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs. Washington has now lost 5 consecutive games.
Arizona needed the clutch hitting of Joe Cortez to notch the win. The right fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Vipers on top, 4-3. For the game, Cortez had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"No time for flexing," said Cortez. "It's always one game at a time."
