North Carolina Topples Ohio, 7-2
|
Ohio got a terrific game from designated hitter Don Conner. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to North Carolina, 7-2. Conner was 3-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The 4th-place Aviators are now 69-93, the Knights 69-93.
The Aviators got an important contribution from catcher Walt Bataille, who in the bottom of the fourth punched a 1-0 fastball into left for a bases-clearing double. It was his 7th double of the season and put the Aviators ahead, 6-1.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Bataille.
