McGowan Blasts Scorpions, Spuds Take Game 3, 9-7
Riding the 3-hit performance of third baseman Jim McGowan, the Idaho Spuds stopped the visiting Utah Scorpions, 9-7, in Game 3 of the Wildcard Series today. McGowan went 3 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Spuds, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 2 games to 1.

Richard Lenz dealt the Scorpions a blow in the bottom of the fifth. Batting with the bases loaded and Idaho leading 5-4, Lenz, who led the GEL in batting average with .297 in 2094, hit a 1-1 slider for a 2-run double.

"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said McGowan.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Spuds Park in Boise.
