Warhawks Win Wildcard Series
Friday, October 21st , 2061
The championship aspirations of the Illinois Warhawks are still alive and well, while the Minnesota Mallards are left to wait until next year.
Illinois won the clinching game of the Wildcard Series 5-2 over Minnesota at Todd Berry Memorial Field, to win the series 4-2.
"You feel like a little kid again, celebrating something like this," said left fielder Chris Payne, who paced the Illinois offense and was named series MVP. "We take everything real seriously when we're on the field, but after a series is over you can finally relax a little bit."
Payne claimed the MVP by racking up 9 hits for a .346 average, with a .346 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, 6 RBI and scored 3 runs.
The League Championship Series matchups and schedule will be announced after the Wildcard Series finishes.
