3-Homer Hat Trick for Ward
Thursday, August 3rd , 2062
Players don't hit three home runs in a game very often and when they do, it is something to celebrate. After today, Devin Ward can celebrate.

The Minnesota Mallards first baseman powered three into the stands at Dylan Park at Hennepin today against the Kentucky Lions.

"It's rare that you actually try to hit a home run," Ward told reporters after the game. "Most of the time you fail, if you really try to hit one. But today, I was really trying on that last one."

In all, he was 3-for-4 as the Mallards toppled Kentucky by a score of 10-3, knocking in 8 runs and scoring 3 times.

"He is blessed with a natural home run swing," Minnesota manager said. "He gets the ball up in the air."

Devin Ward hit a three-run home run off Judite Aldeinha in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Judite Aldeinha in the 3rd, walked in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off John Dupuis in the 6th and struck out in the 8th.

This year Ward has socked 96 hits in 343 at-bats for a .280 average with 22 home runs. He is getting on base at a .351 pace and his totals also include 69 RBIs and 53 runs scored.
