3 Boomers for Cortez Saturday, May 3rd , 2070 In a powerful performance that left the fans at Albertson's Field buzzing, Arizona Vipers right fielder Joe Cortez blasted a trio of home runs en route to a win, 14-2, over the Idaho Steelheads. "Everything was clicking," Cortez told the press. "My timing was good and I got pitches I could handle and I didn't miss them." Cortez shined brilliantly in the win, with 4 hits in 4 at-bats, 9 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "It's not just one guy, it's everybody," Vipers manager Alex Cumana said. "Joe played great but it takes more than one guy to win a game." Joe Cortez hit a three-run home run off Mike Soper in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Mike Soper in the 2nd, hit a three-run home run off Josh Larson in the 3rd and hit an RBI single in the 5th. So far this season, Cortez has hit .381 with 9 home runs, 31 RBIs and scored 18 times. |
