Zander Wright Calls it a Career
Thursday, September 3rd , 2043
Virginia reliever Zander Wright won't be back next year. The 36-year-old announced plans today to retire at the end of the 2043 campaign, saying that it was time to call it a career.

"I could probably play another year," Wright said, "but I don't have that fire you need to play well. And I'm not going out there on those terms. It's a disservice to the Diamond Club and baseball in general. There are just too many aches and pains in this old body for me to continue playing."

Since making his league debut Wright has made 463 appearances and nailed down 74 saves with 493 Ks in 621 innings. In his career he has a record of 36 wins and 32 losses and a 3.99 ERA.
