Thornton's Hit Streak Soars to 20 Games Tuesday, September 8th , 2043 Nobody has been able to shut down West Virginia Hollers center fielder Doug Thornton in recent days. The North Carolina Aviators fared no better than the rest. Today at Lowe's Field at Bojangles' Stadium, Thornton picked up 1 hit in 4 at-bats en route to a 7-2 Hollers victory. It stretched his hitting string to 20 consecutive games. Doug Thornton was hit by a pitch in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, struck out in the 7th, struck out in the 9th and struck out in the 10th. So far this year Thornton has 11 home runs and a .357 batting average. |
