California-Oregon Fight Results in Suspensions Friday, April 22nd , 2044 Yesterday at Duck Dome Shawn Muñóz and Rodrigo Martínez got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the California Mallards and Oregon Explorers. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Muñóz will have to sit out 4 while Martínez would be given a 9-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. For the season, Muñóz is hitting at a .349 clip with 3 home runs, 12 RBIs and has scored 8 runs. He has 22 hits, 3 walks and a .397 on-base percentage. For the season his stats show Martínez has 1 save in 7 relief appearances with a 1-1 record and 11.05 ERA. |
