Hit #2500 for Vipers Blais
Wednesday, September 14th , 2044
It was a great day for Devlyn Blais of the Indiana Vipers -- but not a perfect day. He became the latest player to reach the 2500-hit mark, but his team lost the game. The 32-year-old center fielder got his hit in Indiana's 4-3 loss to Washington.

"It was a very special game for me, but not a good one for the team," said Blais after the game. Commenting on his achievement to reporters, he told them, "2500 hits are a lot. It puts you in a very select group. You have to hit well over a lot of seasons to do this. It's a good feeling to have your name in the record books with the other guys who have reached this level."

He finished the day with 3 hits in 6 at-bats.

Checking out his career figures, Blais has played in 1858 games with a .323 batting average. Among his 2501 hits are 116 home runs. He also has scored 1102 runs, stolen 524 bases and driven in 949 runs.
