2000 Hits for Taylor Saturday, May 6th , 2045 Eddie Taylor has gone through many bats during his playing career. None of them means as much to him as the one he used to crack career hit number 2000 at New Hilltop Park yesterday. The 30-year-old Bridegrooms third baseman told reporters after the game, "I plan to keep this bat at home in my own private Hall of Fame." It was a happy day for Taylor from the standpoint of the 2000-hit milestone, but a little disappointing, too. Despite his achievement, Maryland dropped the contest to the New York Twin Towers 2-0. For the day Taylor finished the day with 2 hits in 5 at-bats. In his 1469-game career Taylor is hitting .323 with 2000 hits, 103 home runs, 937 runs scored and 629 RBIs.
