Oregon's Mendoza Goes Ballistic with 5 Hits Friday, August 21st , 2048 It doesn't happen very often, but it did for José Mendoza today -- a 5-hit effort. He went on a rampage at The Boom Box and paced the Explorers to a 4-1 win over the Washington Resonance. After his dynamite batting performance, the Oregon left fielder told reporters that he "just tried to get in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control." His philosophy paid dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 5 tries and put his name in the record book. José Mendoza singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 7th and doubled in the 9th. Currently Mendoza is batting .292 with 102 hits and 15 home runs.
