Veteran Hatfield Hits Three Dingers
Saturday, May 15th , 2049
Anyone wearing a glove and sitting in the bleachers for today's Athletics-Knights game had a good chance at snagging a home run ball.
New Jersey first baseman Pat Hatfield thrice sent eager fans scurrying to catch a souvenir, helping lead the New Jersey to a 12-3 win over Ohio.
"Hey, the three homers were great, but I'm just trying to help my ballclub," Hatfield said later. "I'm not going out there thinking I need another home run."
Hatfield was 3-for-4 on the day with 5 runs batted in.
Pat Hatfield hit a solo-shot off Reijiro Mizutani in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Reijiro Mizutani in the 3rd, walked in the 4th, grounded out in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Jérémy Poncet in the 8th.
So far this year Hatfield is batting .222 with 7 home runs.
