Álex Pacheco Hurls No-No Against Oregon
Friday, May 21st , 2049
Álex Pacheco relied on excellent pitch selection and pinpoint control to hold Oregon hitless in a 7-0 win at Multnomah Stadium today.
"Nobody goes out to pitch a no-hitter," he said later. "We just go out and try to get a win. A 10-9 win is better than a 1-0 loss. My pitching buddies might not be too happy giving up nine runs but a win is a win. The key to it today was I mixed my pitches well. I kept the Explorers off balance and guessing the whole game."
The 36-year-old starter rung up 4 strikeouts and no walks in whipping the Explorers.
"When a guy is throwing strikes the way he was and is locating well, it is going to be a long day for any club," Oregon skipper John Yuda said.
Season-to-date Pacheco has rung up 4 wins and 1 loss in 9 appearances. He has an ERA of 2.31 and has fanned 34 batters in 58.1 innings.
