Explorers Valle Sizzles with Cycle
Saturday, October 14th , 2051
At Farmers Market Stadium today, Mike Valle led Oregon to a 8-5 victory over the Ontario Blue Pirates by hitting for the cycle, one of baseball's more difficult feats.
"Usually the triple is the hardest one to get, but I was most worried about the homer today because the ball wasn't carrying," Valle said later. "When I took it deep, I was expecting the ball to die on the warning track, so it was sweet seeing the ump give me the signal to circle the bases."
In addition to going 4-for-5, Valle chalked up 3 RBI and scored 2 runs in an exceptional performance.
Mike Valle hit a two-run double in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Marc Vaughn in the 6th, tripled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
This year Valle is batting .310 with 22 hits and 2 home runs. He has scored 9 times and has batted in 12 runs.
