Rowdy Players Suspended by League Thursday, August 28th , 2053 Yesterday at Battle Cats Park Pat James and Cristóbal Cruz got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Olympia Battle Cats and St. Louis Sportsman. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that James will have to sit out 4 while Cruz would be given a 6-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. This season James is batting .348 with 71 RBIs, 77 runs scored and 20 home runs. On the year Cruz has worked 122.2 innings with 90 strikeouts en route to a 8-6 record and 7.19 ERA. |
